Eat Alberta 2012

Eat Alberta: Your Real Food Survival Guide

Hey boys and girls!
Remember my last post about living sustainably? Well, here's the next step...

This is the second Eat Alberta conference of what we hope to be many that will celebrate such local food heroes. Our Real Food Survival Guide focus this year will provide insight into tasting, preserving and preparing food while living in our Winter climate.
As we are so passionate about the local food opportunities our city provides as well as acutely aware that food expertise (in a variety of forms) lies within each of our neighbourhoods.

Check the site often for when registration opens (should be sometime today, Monday March 12th).  Last year it sold out within 3 DAYS

The best part? (besides all the awesome learning) You get to take home what you make! How cool is that?!

Some of the hands on sessions include making:
  • Sausages
  • Cheese
  • Bread
  • Pasta
  • French Macarons
  • Indigenous food  and more!
Tasting sessions include:
  • Fruit wine
  • Honey
  • Cheese
  • Beer

There will also be an opening keynote session by Danny and Shannon Ruzicka from Nature’s Green Acres Farms discussing the importance of read food to the survival of our planet and Life on the Back 40.
Calgary’s own infamous Knife Nerd, Kevin Kent, will be presenting two
sessions this year and Martin Orsis will be presenting sessions on foraging
for wild food.

Check out the full schedule here!
(Yes, the afternoon panel is about Surviving A Zombie Apocalypse. Your eyes did not deceive you.)

That is an AWESOME line up!

You know you want to go.  I'll be there too! (come say Hi :) )
Sign up today, before it's sold out... Remember, it only took 3 days last year...
